Jeep 2010 Lineup
For 2010, you can expect Jeep to create some beautiful new models that are more efficient and stream-lined. With rising fuel costs, people are less likely to buy a gas-guzzler, and Jeep is well aware and has stepped up to the plate. The new range from Jeep will be the same loved models as previous years but with a bit of a facelift. Everything you love about Jeep will be there, just packaged a little more tightly in smaller, environmentally-friendly ways, but with all the power you have come to expect from Jeep.
Jeep Grand Cherokee
Chrysler unveiled its new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee this spring, and is set to go into production in 2010. The new Grand Cherokee has some of the same features that have made it a popular SUV, with some changes to really stream-line the vehicle. The 2011 Grand Cherokee gets a new independent front and rear suspension, with isolated front and rear cradles, and variable-rate rear springs. A new air suspension called Quadra-Lift will be optional. It lowers the Grand Cherokee according to your needs, whether you want it lower for increased speed, or higher for off-roading and clearing obstacles. Cherokee’s interior is also set to be more luxurious than previous years. With a finish worthy of Mercedes-Benz, the new interiors will come with premium, soft-touch leather and real wood paneling. The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is also being outfitted with a brand-new 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine. This engine promises to deliver a 33% increase in power and 11% in torque over its predecessor. Basically what this means is Jeep will get better gas mileage (16 city/22 highway) while still retaining power you are used to.
2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited EV
What’s really exciting for 2010 and beyond are the new environmentally friendly Jeeps, starting with the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited EV. This is an electric Jeep, and although it isn’t the first of its kind, it is much more technically advanced than anything that has come along before. Like other electric cars, the Wrangler runs as an electric vehicle so long as its lithium-ion batteries hold a charge. With the combination of the battery and small gasoline engine, Chrysler claims the Wrangler can travel up to 400 miles on a ten gallon tank. One of the downsides to this environmentally-friendly car is the lack of four-wheel drive, which is one of the things that have made Jeep so popular with drivers over the years. However, it still has a top speed of over 90 mph which is good for any standard Wrangler Jeep, and goes from 0-60mph in about eight seconds.
Wrangler color changes for 2010
In 2010 Jeep will remove the following colors: Jeep Green, Detonator Yellow and Sunburst Orange. However they are being replaced with three new exciting “Pearl Coat” colors, Natural Green, Surf Blue and Dark Charcoal.
2010 Jeep Patriot EV
Another electric car from Jeep is the 2010 Jeep Patriot EV. This car has the same engine that runs on battery power up to 40 miles and then acts as a hybrid, getting some boost from the small fuel tank. The electric version of the Jeep Patriot promises to have the look and features of the previous model, but with a sleeker feel to it. The Jeep Patriot EV will have the refined, clean front that has been seen on earlier models, with the signature Jeep grille. The color, stance of the wheels and design of this vehicle also promise to give it a sportier look than other Jeeps of its kind. This is a great car for environmentally-minded people who still want an SUV with power and gusto. Both of these new EV cars will be finished in a beautiful ENVI Green Pearl exterior with a prominent "EV" graphic adorning both sides – top-to-bottom – of the vehicle.
Jeep Commander
The 2009 Jeep Commander remains an outstanding luxury seven-seater SUV ideal for any rough terrain that is thrown at it. The gorgeous interior is head and shoulders above other SUVs in its class, even rivaling some of its European cousins. The Jeep Commander is giving the luxurious Range Rover a real run for its money in this end of the SUV market, once heralded as the best SUV, the Jeep Commander is making a strong challenge for that position. The 5.7 liter Hemi V-8 has tons of torque and you want to wind down the windows to take in the sweet engine note. Despite all of the luxury the Commander still has the all the skid plates required to shield the fuel tank, front suspension and transfer case. There is a low-range button near to the gear shifter, however everything else is automatic, and this includes the limited-slip differentials. The extended trunk and seven seats make it ideal for large families who require a comfortable luxury SUV.
Jeep Compass
The 2009 Jeep Compass is the entry level model that continues to be popular with first time Jeep buyers. It retains the deep front end nose style which has become synonymous with the Jeep branding throughout the last decade. The Jeep Compass does not have the "Trail Rated" badge found on other SUVs in the Jeep family. The base model comes with front wheel drive, and four wheel drive can be added as an optional extra. The Jeep Compass is classified as a “Crossover Compact SUV” due to its size, the Compass is ideal for a first time Jeep buyer who wants the style without the size. Its class-leading fuel economy and 5 star crash rating makes the Compass a great all around SUV.
Jeep has been a leader in powerful, compact SUVs since the 1940s when they were used as superior war vehicles. Since then, Jeep has reinvented itself year after year with SUVs that are beautifully crafted and still tough enough for the trail. 2010 promises to deliver some even more stylish, powerful and environmentally-minded vehicles from Jeep, without compromising any of the great features that Jeep has come to be associated with.
